Bay Pines VA Closes Select Locations Ahead of Tropical Storm Nicole

PRESS RELEASE

November 9, 2022

BAY PINES , FL — Due to potential impacts from Tropical Storm Nicole, the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System’s (BPVAHCS) Sebring VA clinic is currently closed through Nov. 10.

The C.W.Y VA Medical Center and all other outlying clinics, except for our Naples VA clinic, will be closed all day starting Nov. 10.

Veterans who have appointments that are appropriate for virtual care, will be contacted by their provider via telephone at their scheduled appointment time. If virtual care cannot be completed due to connectivity issues, or if their appointment is not appropriate for virtual care, they will be contacted at a later date to reschedule.

Please be aware that the scope of these closures may change as we receive more clarity on the impact of the storm. In addition to the closures above, the following areas on the C.W.Y VAMC will be closed through Nov. 10:

  • The St. Petersburg Regional Office will be closed for face-to-face appointments. Veterans may schedule a virtual appointment with a Regional Office representative through the VERA system
  • The Bay Pines National Cemetery. Visitations will resume on Friday, Nov. 11 and burial services will resume on Saturday, Nov. 12.

“Our staff will continue to assess the potential impact of this storm and adjust our operations accordingly,” said Paul M. Russo, Director/CEO, BPVAHCS. “The wellbeing of our Veterans and staff remains our number one priority and we will only reopen our facilities once it is completely safe to do so.”

If Veterans have a medical emergency, they should call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest open emergency room. For non-urgent medical care, please contact the VISN 8 Clinical Contact Center at 1-877-741-3400.
