Dr. Lisa Taylor is a licensed clinical psychologist with specialized expertise in Geropsychology and healthcare for older adults.
She completed her doctorate in clinical psychology at Nova Southeastern University and predoctoral internship through the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA’s Geropsychology track.
Dr. Taylor pursued postdoctoral fellowship training at VA Bedford Healthcare System, refining her skills in hospice, palliative care, grief counseling, trauma treatment, and other core areas of Geropsychology practice. She is skilled in evidence-based interventions including CBT, DBT, complicated grief counseling, motivational interviewing, and reminiscence techniques tailored to older adults.
Currently, Dr. Taylor serves as a Clinical Psychologist across several geriatric programs at VA Bedford. She provides assessment, psychotherapy, and behavioral planning for veterans in the Outpatient Palliative Care Clinic, Home-Based Primary Care, and Long-Term Care Community Living Centers.
Dr. Taylor plays an active role in enhancing Geropsychology services at her medical center and nationally. She has led interdisciplinary geriatric focus conferences and numerous continuing education seminars on Geropsychology topics for VA trainees and providers, both locally and nationally. Dr. Taylor has spearheaded quality improvement initiatives and secured grant funding for provider education and program development. She serves on various VA committees seeking to improve patient care. Her advocacy and passion for education has advanced psychological treatment for older adults.
In addition, Dr. Taylor serves as a Clinical Supervisor for VA Bedford’s APA-accredited psychology training program. She oversees practicum students, interns, and postdoctoral trainees’ placements in community living centers, home-based primary care, palliative care, and outpatient geriatric clinics. Dr. Taylor is passionate about supervising the next generation of Geropsychology clinicians.
Outside of work, Dr. Taylor enjoys the ocean, philanthropic projects, and spending time with family. She remains deeply committed to improving older adults’ wellbeing through exemplary clinical practice, training, program development, and research.
