For over a century, Norton’s Florist has been a cornerstone of Birmingham's community, showering it with floral beauty. The Pappas family, now in its second generation with Cameron Pappas at the helm, upholds a heartfelt tradition.

Each Veterans Day, they honor those who served by gifting long-stem red roses in bud vases to hospital-bound Veterans.

Cameron Pappas, reflecting on his father's legacy and service in the U.S. Navy, emphasizes the importance of recognition. "We're committed to conveying respect and love through flowers," he stated. "For Veterans who might feel their sacrifices are overlooked, we dedicate this time around Veterans Day to ensure they feel remembered and appreciated."

Jamie DeFreese, Associate Medical Center Director, observes the growing impact of such tributes over time. "A special Veterans Day meal is always appreciated but pairing it with a long-stem rose elevates the experience," DeFreese remarked with a smile. "It's an honor to collaborate with local enterprises like Norton’s Florist, who bring passion and respect to our hospital's Veterans. It's the little things—a fragrant rose, a festive meal—that can brighten a hospital stay during the holiday season."

Now in its 16th year, Norton’s Florist's tradition of flower deliveries to Veterans continues to flourish, symbolizing the community's enduring respect and gratitude.
