Kittanning , PA — Butler VA Health Care System is hosting a Veteran Outreach Event in honor of Whole Health month. The event will be held at the Armstrong County VA Clinic located at 11 Hilltop Plaza, Kittanning, Pennsylvania, on April 15 from 11am – 2pm.
Veterans attending the event will be able to speak with the Whole Health team as well as other VA program staff and learn more about the PACT Act, eligibility and enrollment, toxic exposure and screenings, VA claims, Women Veterans health, health and wellness, suicide prevention, nutrition, telehealth, caregiver support, volunteer opportunities, Medical Foster Home program, and many other programs. On the day of the event, Veterans will be able to enroll (bring a copy of your DD-214), file a claim, and complete a toxic exposure screening. Whole Health giveaways will be available to Veterans attending.
Feeling well involves a lot more than treating symptoms. That’s why VA moved from a conventional health model to Whole Health, an approach that considers you as a whole person. Whole Health is everywhere in VA health care settings, from primary care and mental health to specialty services to Whole Health coaching and well-being programs. Whole Health goes beyond illness and injury to address all aspects of life. In Whole Health, the Veterans care team works with them to develop a plan based on their priorities for their own health. In other words, Whole Health is about what matters most to you – not what is the matter with you.
“This Veteran-centric, whole person approach is equipping and empowering Veterans to be actively engaged in their unique care plan, helping them to focus on their mission, aspirations, and goals. You are the expert on you! Through this approach, we can help Veterans connect back to ‘What Matters Most’ to them,” comments Karen Justi, Whole Health Program Manager.
