VA Central Iowa improvements may impact entryway
PRESS RELEASE
October 3, 2023
Des Moines , IA — Visitors to the VA Central Iowa Health Care Medical Center in Des Moines will notice improvements as the facility undergoes changes to the west entrance.
This Fall, the facility’s laboratory is set to undergo an expansion that will allow better and faster services for patients at the facility and throughout Central Iowa. These improvements require work crews to access the area near the west entrance. VA will make every effort to keep the entrance clear to allow Veterans, family members, caregivers, and staff to enter, including those with accessibility challenges.
Parking lot 6 on the building’s northwest side will see minimal impact, as will shuttle service to and from the main entrance.
“Our number one priority is the health and safety of our Veterans,” said Brent Pharis, associate medical center director for facilities. “We are going to make these upgrades with as little disruption to our Veterans as we can.”
The laboratory expansion project is set to begin in Fiscal Year 2024 which began October 1, 2023.
