Dr. Touney began her VA career in 2012 at VACIHCS as the Home Based Primary Care Medical Director and Contract Nursing Home physician.
She then moved to Rehabilitation and Extended Care (REC) Medical Director before becoming REC Service Line Director. She has also provided care in the CLC and on the Palliative/Hospice Care team.
Prior to the VA, she worked as a primary care physician at Iowa Health Physicians, Medical Director at Taylor House Hospice and for ten years at Iowa Veterans Home.
Dr. Touney received her Bachelor of Science from Iowa State University and is a 1998 graduate of University of Iowa College of Medicine. Residency was completed in 2001 in Des Moines with the IMMC/VA/University of Iowa consortium.
She is board certified by American Board of Internal Medicine. And is a Certified Medical Director (AMDA/PALTC). She is the Life Sustaining Treatment Coordinator and a Goals of Care Conversation Trainer.
In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and spending time with family and cheering on the ISU Cyclones.
