Charleston , SC — The Ralph H. Johnson VA Health Care System was recently named the only 5-star medical facility in South Carolina and Georgia for both quality and patient satisfaction by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The Charleston based VA was first recognized as dual 5-Star rating in July 2023, when CMS started including VA facilities in their annual Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings.

“At the Ralph H. Johnson VA, our team of unbelievable employees are dedicated to the mission of caring for Veterans and that shows in the compassionate and respectful care they provide,” said Ralph H. Johnson VA HCS Director and CEO Scott Isaacks. “It is amazing to be recognized as South Carolina’s top-rated hospital, our Veterans absolutely deserve this level of care.”

The Ralph H. Johnson VA has been a health care leader for many years, surpassing both VA quality and patient satisfaction standards. The RHJ VA Health Care System has outpatient clinics in North Charleston, Goose Creek, Beaufort, Myrtle Beach and also services the Georgia coast with clinics in Savannah and Hinesville, GA. The Ralph H. Johnson VA is also the only dual 5-Star medical facility in Georgia as well.

According to a June 14, 2023 article published by NPR, Veterans rated VA Hospitals higher than private health care facilities across the nation in all areas of patient satisfaction and recent survey data states that the VA beat out private health care in all areas surveys, including hospital cleanliness and communication with doctors and nurses.
