AudioCARE Prefill

By Vivian Newstate, Program Applications Specialist

Veterans will now receive a text or phone call reminder for prescriptions not yet requested for refill.

VA Dayton health care pharmacy began the use of AudioCARE Prefill on October 10, 2024.  If you forget to refill certain medications and are about to run out, you will receive a text message or phone call. No sign up is needed for this reminder if your phone number is already on file. Just reply Y to the text or phone prompts to refill or renew your medication. Type N to decline. You will not get a refill message for some medications, like controlled substances and supplies. You may receive a refill reminder message for most regular medications. A best practice is to request a refill for prescriptions as soon as you receive them in the mail.

The reminder text message will look like this,

"This is your Dayton VA Pharmacy reminding you that your medication is due to be refilled. Reply Y to refill or call 1-800-368-8262 (option 1) or visit www.myhealth.va.gov.”

If you do not wish to receive reminders,  reply to the text STOP or by calling the Pharmacy Contact Center, 1-800-368-8262 and press 1 for Pharmacy, then press 2.
