Justin Peters was appointed as Assistant Medical Center Director at VA Detroit Health Care System effective July 20, 2023.
Prior to this appointment, Mr. Peters served as Associate Medical Center Director/COO for South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS). In this capacity he was charged with the overall leadership responsibility for Health Administration Service, Supply Chain Management, Prosthetics, and Finance to include a $1.35 billion budget. His VA experience includes serving as Assistant Medical Center Director at VA Eastern Kansas overseeing operations in Business Office, Environmental Management, Education, Nutrition and Food, Chaplain, Prosthetics, Police, Office of Experience, Voluntary, and Canteen. He previously served as Group Practice Manager at VA Saginaw in Michigan. Other previous experience includes serving as Deputy Chief of Health Administration Service at VA Ann Arbor and Health System Specialist at VISN 10 Network Office.
Mr. Peters completed Graduate Health Administration Training Program, VISN 10 Leadership Development Institute, VHA Health Care Leadership Development Program, and Executive Training Orientation at VA Central Office. He graduated from Rochester College, a Christian Liberal Arts College, with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Theology. He holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Bowling Green State University & University of Toledo and completed a Graduate Certificate from the U.S. Naval War College. He is also an Adjunct Faculty member with Liberty University School of Business. He is board certified in Healthcare Management and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
He is married to Bethany Peters and they have two children. Mr. Peters is a Navy Veteran having served as a dental technician and hospital corpsman and currently serves as a medical service corps officer in the Navy Reserve.
