Under the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), VA Southeast Network (VISN 7) is one of the 21 Veterans Integrated Service Networks (VISNs) that are honored to serve and deliver health care services to Veterans of the United States of America.
VISN 7 encompasses an area containing eight VA medical centers and numerous outpatient clinics throughout most of the states of Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina in a geographic area that spans 124,534 square miles.  Veterans in this area are concentrated around moderate to large cities, military bases and along the coastal areas.  Smaller concentrations of Veterans are located in rural areas which are considered medically underserved.
VISN 7 VA medical centers are located in:  Atlanta, GA; Augusta, GA; Birmingham, Al; Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (east campus at Tuskegee, AL, west campus at Montgomery, AL); Charleston, SC; Columbia, SC; Dublin, GA; and Tuscaloosa, AL.

VISN 7 serves the third largest Veteran population with over 1.4 million Veterans living in its geographic area.  The geographic area of VISN 7 continues to attract Veterans and VISN 7 is projected to have the second largest Veteran population within a few years. Over 413,000 unique Veterans were seen in VISN 7 in FY 2014, an increase of over 4% from the previous year, with almost 30,000 hospital admissions and almost 5 million outpatient visits. VISN 7 facilities include three facilities classified as 1a (or highly complex) VAMCs.
VISN 7 benefits from a strong committed and diverse workforce that we are investing in through leadership training opportunities at both the VISN and medical center levels. In particular, we value and benefit from the feedback and perspective we receive from our Veteran employees, who make up over a third of our workforce of over 15,000 Full-Time Equivalent Employees (FTEE).
Demonstrating our commitment to VHA’s education mission, VISN 7 medical centers are affiliated with internationally and nationally recognized centers of medical training and have active academic affiliations with programs in nursing, pharmacy, social work, psychology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and other clinical and administrative disciplines.
VISN 7 works in partnership with 13 Department of Defense (DoD) military treatment facilities as Integrated Disability Evaluation Sites (IDES), including a cross-VISN site in Columbus, Mississippi.  VISN 7 medical centers have also pursued and received Joint Venture Status with DoD facilities as well as pursuing multiple sharing opportunities with our local federal partners.
