The VA Southeast Network (VISN 7) Tele-Emergency Care Program, a groundbreaking initiative offering Veterans same-day care for a wide range of injuries and illnesses from the comfort of their home, has reached its one-month milestone, serving over 500 Veterans so far.
The VA Southeast Network recently announced that as part of VHA’s efforts to deliver virtual care services to Veterans, it will now operate a 24/7 Clinical Contact Center, making virtual urgent care service more seamless to Veterans enrolled in VA healthcare within Al, North Ga, and SC.
Effective July 16, Veterans have the option to Dial 988 then Press 1 to connect with caring, qualified responders for 24/7 crisis support.
Gus Allbritton graduated from high school on a Friday, received his draft notice in the mail and found himself at Ft. Benning, Georgia, on Monday. He served in Vietnam and prior to his discharge, the 20-year-old Allbritton received his third Purple Heart on a parade field at Ft. Hood, Texas.
Dublin VAMC Dental Hygienist Michelle Lord saw an opportunity to reduce the rate of hospital-acquired pneumonia infections among the VA’s residents and Veterans. Lord created a plan and is making it H.A.P.P.E.N., and recently received VA’s national HeRO award as a result.
Dublin VAMC Peer Support Specialist Johnny Payne served with the US Army in B. company 1st battalion 7th Cavalry from 1969 to 1971 and spent a year in Vietnam. During his time, Payne was awarded the Bronze Star, Air Medal for valor, Combat Infantry Badge, and the campaign medals.
