Dr. Katrina Canady was selected as the Interim Associate Director for Patient Care Services for the Durham VA Health Care System in August 2023.
Prior to this, she served as the Chief of Community Care. Dr. Canady began her VA career at the Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia in 2003 as a Licensed Practical Nurse on the Spinal Cord Injury Unit.
After receiving an Associate Degree of Nursing from Augusta State University in 2006, she transitioned to the cardiology unit at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. While there she obtained a Bachelor of Nursing Science Degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 2009.
In 2010, she accepted a position at the Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center (DEAMC) emergency room and remained in this position until transferring to the Clark Army Medical Clinic located in Fort Liberty, NC. In 2012 she obtained a Master of Science in Nursing degree with a specialization in education from Walden University and in 2013 began serving as a Nurse Manager at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center.
She is a 2016 graduate of both The Leadership Development Institute and Healthcare Leadership Development Program. She served as the Associate Chief Nurse Executive of the Primary Care Division at the Portland VA Medical Center for three years before joining the Durham VA Medical Center as the Chief Nurse for Care in the Community in July 2020.
In July 2023, she completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice at Walden University.
