Veterans Invited to Join VA in Tulsa Parade

Tulsa , OK — The Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System (EOVAHCS) will be participating in the Tulsa Veterans Parade on Nov. 11 and would like to extend an invitation to area Veterans to join in this year’s theme “Honoring Veteran Advocates - Honoring and advocating for all who served.”

The parade is from 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and will be televised. If walking or riding (space permitting), please meet at the staging area no later than 10:25 a.m.

Staging Information & Position
EOVAHCS Headquarters Division #12
Staging area will be located at 3rd St. between S. Detroit Ave. and S. Cincinnati Ave.

Parade Guidelines:

  • Veterans are encouraged to wear their military uniforms, but uniforms must be worn within compliance standards
  • No throwing of candy
  • No political agendas
  • May only display American flags (national, city, service, POW/MIA, etc.)

SIDEBAR: This year’s Parade Commander is Capt. Anthony Jones, a VA police officer who works at the Ernest Childers VA Outpatient clinic in Tulsa. He has been with the VA since 2011. From 2000-2008, Jones served in the U.S. Marine Corps achieving the rank of Sergeant. He served in Camp Lejeune, NC; Quantico, VA; and Okinawa, Japan.
