Who can download an education decision letter?

You can download your decision letter if you’re a Veteran and you meet both of the requirements listed here.

Both of these must be true:

  • You applied for Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits on VA.gov, and
  • You got a decision letter from us about your application on or after August 20, 2022

Note: At this time, family members and dependents can’t get their decision letters online.

If you’re a family member or dependent, or you have an older decision letter, you’ll need to contact us online through Ask VA to request a copy of your letter.

How do I get other education letters or documents?

Right now, you can use this tool only to get your decision letter for Post-9/11 GI Bill benefits. You’ll have access to other types of education letters here soon. 

If you want to request copies of other education letters, you’ll need to contact us through Ask VA.
