GCVHCS Recognized by American Hospital Association During Jan. 19 Presentation
BILOXI, Miss. – The Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System (GCVHCS) was presented a plaque signifying 75 years of American Hospital Association (AHA) membership during a Jan. 19 presentation ceremony at the Biloxi Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center in Biloxi, Mississippi.
GCVHCS Director Bryan C. Matthews received the plaque from AHA Regional Executive Rebecca Jolley during the short presentation ceremony, and said the efforts of the more than 2,700 employees at the organization’s five sites in Mississippi, Alabama and Florida have been and will remain instrumental in the care provided to more than 84,000 Veterans along the Gulf Coast.
“We’re fortunate to have a dedicated team of medical professionals and supporting staff who are passionate about what they do – providing care to our nation’s heroes,” Matthews said. “We have maintained membership in the AHA for three-quarters of a century, and our commitment to our Veterans, our employees and our communities is something we hold dear. Being recognized by a leading national organization for our efforts is truly remarkable.”
Founded in 1898 and admitting institutional members since 1919, the AHA is a national organization representing and serving hospitals, health care networks and their patients and communities. Nearly 5,000 hospitals, health care systems, networks and other providers of care and 43,000 individual members form the AHA, which provides education for health care leaders and is a source of information on health care issues and trends.
The GCVHCS has maintained continuous membership in the AHA since 1946.
“Th Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System has provided high-quality care to patients while also helping train the next generation of caregivers,” Jolley said. “Through its membership in the AHA, the GCVHCS has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to supporting the hospital field’s important work in providing high quality health care services. The AHA thanks GCVHCS staff and leadership for the care and services they provide each day to their patients and communities.”
The GCVHCS, comprised of the Biloxi VA Medical Center; the Joint Ambulatory Care Center (JACC) in Pensacola, Florida, and the Mobile, Alabama, and Eglin and Panama City Beach Community-based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCS), provide a variety of health care services to more than 84,000 Veterans.
