Program
Services

Explore three inter-related concepts that underlie programs that assist people who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness.

Through the SSVF Program, VA aims to improve very low-income Veteran families' housing stability. Grantees (private non-profit organizations and consumer cooperatives) provide eligible Veteran families with outreach, case management, and assistance in obtaining VA and other benefits.

On the Supportive Services page, you will find information on:

  • Case Management
  • Community Partners, Referrals, and Outreach
  • Financial Assistance Tracking
  • Household Budgeting and Income Maximization
  • Landlords and Housing Navigation

In addition, grantees also provide time-limited payments to third parties (e.g., landlords, utility companies, moving companies, and licensed child care providers) if these payments help Veterans' families stay in or acquire permanent housing on a sustainable basis. Visit Supportive Services.

In response to the needs of Veterans seeking services, the SSVF Program Office is strives to develop new ways to strengthen services. SSVF Specialized Services go beyond the basics and enhance the supportive services SSVF grantees are providing. Often, Specialized Services are developed to address unmet needs that have been identified by grantees or respond to an immediate crisis. Visit Specialized Services.
