Mr. Brian Pauley was appointed Associate Director for Patient Care Services/Nurse Executive for G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VAMC on November 21, 2021.

He joined us from the Spark M. Matsunaga VA Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he served as the Associate Chief Nurse for Geriatrics and Extended Care and Acting Chief of Quality, Safety and Value. He is an experienced nurse leader and clinical nurse with more than 20 years of nursing experience. His career in progressive nursing management and leadership in diversified settings includes Critical Care, Home Based Primary Care, Home and Community Based Services, Geriatrics, Mental Health, and Quality Safety Value.

Mr. Pauley received his Associate of Science in Nursing in 2003, his Bachelor of Nursing (Magna Cum Laude) from Regis University in 2008, and his Master’s degree in nursing leadership in healthcare systems (Graduate Honors) from Regis University in 2014. Mr. Pauley is an Iraq War (OIF) Veteran with over 20 years of military experience and still serves in the United States Army Reserve. He is a graduate of the Command and General Staff Officers’ Course from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College (CGSC), focusing on leadership and organizational change. Mr. Pauley’s decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal and various service and campaign medals.

As Associate Director for Patient Care Services (ADPCS)/Nurse Executive, he provides organizational oversight for the Sterile Processing Service, Chaplain Service, and all of the nursing practice throughout the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center. This includes the seven Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Columbus, Hattiesburg, Meridian, McComb, Greenville, Kosciusko, and Natchez serving the middle third of Mississippi and portions of Louisiana. The ADPCS demonstrates complex leadership and administrative expertise associated with critical healthcare issues and activities that influence the organizational mission, healthcare, and policies through active involvement in strategic planning, organizational assessment, and program development.
