Certified Amputee Peer Visitor Training

Certified Peer Visitor Training
By Anna Mills, Public Affairs Specialist

On June 9, 2023 a group of five Veteran Volunteers were trained by Amputee Rehabilitation Coordinator, Matt Fields, to become dually Certified Amputee Peer Visitor (CPVs).

The Amputee Coalition's Certified Peer Visitors are trained volunteers who provide information and support for individuals about to undergo an amputation or who currently have limb loss / difference. Our goal is to make sure that no one goes through this journey alone.

We believe that support comes in many forms and came make an incredible difference in recovery and rehabilitation. With this dual VA / DoD / Civilian certification, these Veterans may serve as CPVs for other Veterans living with limb loss locally within the VISN 9 PANS Lexington Amputee Rehab Program, nationally throughout the Amputee System of Care (ASoC), and in the civilian population.

If you are a Veteran, who is an amputee,  and are interested in being contacted by a Certified Peer Visitor, or have interest in becoming a Certified Peer Visitor, contact Matt Fields at (859) 233-4511 ext. 5209.
