Loma Linda , CA — VA Loma Linda Healthcare System (VALLHS) Imaging Service was awarded the coveted Gold Seal of Accreditation in CT, MRI, Mammography, Breast Ultrasound, and Biopsy by the American College of Radiology (ACR), Aug. 11.
Imaging Service was awarded the Gold Seal of Accreditation after a rigorous, comprehensive review of measuring, assessing, and improving performance to provide safe and high-quality patient care to earn the accreditation.
"By working as a team to improve imaging services, we earned the highest honor bestowed to any Radiology Department, the ACR Gold Seal of Accreditation," said Dr. Alex Yi, VALLHS, chief of imaging service.
The American College of Radiology's Gold Seal of Accreditation is the gold standard in medical imaging. ACR Accreditation helps to ensure that patients have the highest image quality and safety level by documenting that healthcare facilities meet the equipment, medical personnel, and quality assurance requirements.
The Gold Seal demonstrates VALLHS Imaging Service commitment to quality standards and exceptional patient experience. The benefits to Veterans include cutting-edge scanners that reduce the need for rescans, shorter breath hold times, and introducing large-bore scanners to reduce claustrophobia in Veterans undergoing MRI scans.
"In Imaging Service, we have a common purpose: to deliver the highest image quality and patient safety to Veterans undergoing any type of imaging," said Yi.
