VA Loma Linda supports Veteran families at drive-thru baby shower
VA Loma Linda Healthcare System partnered with community organizations to support more than one hundred new and expectant Veteran parents with supplies and healthcare resources at a drive-thru baby shower May 13.
Veterans learned about VA and community programs and received new donated items including diapers, diaper bags, car seats, highchairs, playpens and handmade blankets. The fifth annual event was coordinated by the VALLHS Women Veterans Program and Maternity Care Team in partnership with VA staff, volunteers and the community.
“We’re happy to partner with our community to provide supplemental resources for Veterans and their families,” said Lisa Roybal, Women Veterans Program Manager at VALLHS.
“I think it’s an awesome thing that VA Loma Linda is doing,” said U.S. Army Veteran Erasmo Garcia, who drove through the baby shower and received resources for his family with twin babies. “Especially nowadays we need some positivity in the world, and this definitely helps. It feels amazing to get this help from VA.”
VALLHS provides comprehensive healthcare for Veterans and supports the health, welfare and dignity of women Veterans by ensuring equal access to timely, sensitive, quality care. “We’re honored to recognize the service of women Veterans,” said Roybal. “If you’re a Veteran who needs health care, VA is where you should be.”
