VA Louisville health care operates a comprehensive behavioral health program. We provide excellent Veteran-focused mental health care.

Our Mental Health Points of Contact

If you are in crisis or you are concerned about a Veteran in crisis – Dial 988 then Press 1, or Text 838255, click here to chat, or go to your nearest Emergency Room. 

If you have not received care at a VA Medical Center and are not in a current crisis or mental health emergency – Call Eligibility at to enroll, or apply online.

If you have a VA Primary Care provider - Ask your Primary Care Provider at for a referral to the Primary Care Mental Health Integration program or send a message through My HealtheVet.

If you are already attending appointments with a Mental Health provider and have a question or need to discuss your mental health symptoms - call . If you need to schedule, reschedule, or cancel an appointment call or .

If you need treatment for substance use – Call the Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program at .

If you are a Veteran that is homeless – Call the Healthcare for Homeless Veterans program at or the National Center for Homeless Veterans at (877) 4AID-VET -  ).

If you are a Veteran that needs assistance with employment - Call the Vocational Rehabilitation program at .

Care we provide at VA Louisville health care

The Behavioral Health Department offers both inpatient and outpatient services, including telehealth appointments. We provide consultation, evaluation, and treatment for a variety of issues impacting emotional well-being. Our services include:

  • Psychiatry
  • Psychology
  • Services for Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless
  • Treatment for addictive disorders, including residential rehabilitation treatment programs
  • Transition and care management for returning Veterans (OIF/OEF/OND)

Confidentiality

Mental health services are confidential. We will not talk to anyone about information you share unless you give written consent. Under federal law, a few exceptions to this rule exist. If you have questions, please ask your mental health provider.
