Robley Rex VAMC Participates in Nationwide Employee Onboarding Event
The Robley Rex VAMC participated in the Veteran Health Administration’s (VHA) nationwide Onboarding Surge Event Thursday in an effort streamline the hiring process for future VA employees.
The goal of the event was to create a model that is a standardized, team-centric approach focused on fast tracking a selectee’s onboarding experience by coordinating all required pre-employment actions into a single-day event.
According to Angela Casey, Lead HR Specialist at Robley Rex VAMC, the first-time nationwide event was a resounding success.
“We were able to provide 15 contingent job offers to the 39 attendees,” Casey stated. “Any effort to streamline our hiring process is critical to the future health of our staff – and ultimately – our goal of providing topline healthcare to our nation’s heroes. While this was our first onboarding surge event, future applicants can expect similar events in the future to expedite and simplify the hiring and onboarding processes. We’re constantly evaluating and seeking the most efficient process in Human Resources, and this event has given us an important building block.”
The VHA has identified the need to hire 52,000 employees per year over the next five years to meet increased demand for care.
