Find out how to refill prescriptions, where to pick up prescriptions and how to safely dispose of medicine.

Over the next year, Madison VA Hospital and Clinic patients who currently cut tablets in half will have their prescription changed to whole tablets, if available. For example, if you get 10mg tablets that you cut in half, you will now get 5mg tablets instead. Your daily dose will not change.

If you do not have any prescriptions for half-tablets, you can disregard this letter.
The next time your Madison doctor writes you a new prescription for half-tablets, it will be changed to whole tablets.
Please read your prescription label carefully to make sure you take the right medicine and dose.

Refill your prescriptions

Your VA benefits include prescription medicines and medical supplies prescribed by your VA health care team.

Be sure to order refills at least 10 days before your supply runs out.

Most prescriptions arrive via U.S. Postal Service. Medicines requiring refrigeration and certain types of medical supplies may be sent through FedEx or UPS.
