Mark Audet, RN, BSN, MBA, is the Interim Associate Director for Patient and Nursing Services. He has held this role since October 2022.
In this role, he supports nursing practice, education, and patient care services for Veterans throughout the state. Previously, Mark held clinical and nursing leadership roles in the private sector, assuming greater levels of responsibility throughout the years. Mark joined the Navy Reserves in 1988 and became a Navy Corpsman. Through the Navy, Mark attended Maine Medical Center’s School of Surgical Technology, he graduated with a diploma in 1989. He worked as a Surgical Technologist in Maine Medical Center’s OR and took Nursing courses in the evening through the University of Southern Maine. In 1991 he was deployed to a Navy field hospital in Saudi Arabia in support of the Gulf War. After returning home, he obtained his BSN from USM in 1993 and took a RN role in Maine Medical Center’s OR, eventually becoming a service lead for ENT, Plastic and Neurosurgery. Mark accepted a position as an OR Coordinator at MGMC Augusta Campus in 2000. He was promoted to Nurse Manager of the OR and Endoscopy. In 2009 he obtained an MBA from Thomas College in Waterville, Maine.
In 2010 Mark took a position as the OR/SDS/PACU Manager for VA Maine. In 2015 Mark accepted the position of the Deputy Nurse Executive. In June 2020 he was selected for the Deputy Associate Director of Patient and Nursing Services position.
Mark and his wife Cindy reside in Palermo, Maine. They have 4 adult children. Mark enjoys traveling, cycling, reading, woodworking, hunting, fishing and serving the Veteran Community.
