Disaster Assistance for Veterans

This message will help answer some of your questions about VA disaster assistance.

Natural disasters may impact your ability to reach us by phone.
Here are a few options to help you to get in touch with the VA:
 

If you think your life or health is in danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
 

If you need help determining where to go for care or have questions about what VA resources are
available to you, call 1-800-MyVA411 (1-800-698-2411).
 

If you have non-urgent questions, you can reach VA through the VA Health and Benefits App
Or MyHealtheVet Secure Messaging through (va.gov) Use these resources to schedule an
appointment, refill prescriptions, and access your records.


Ask VA online tool at Ask.VA.gov—You can send us non-urgent your questions and VA
representative who is familiar with the topic you’re asking about will respond.
 

Veterans Crisis Line – Available 24/7
Crisis Line Staff are available to help Veterans at all times and can help connect you with support and care.

Housing
If you or a Veteran you know needs immediate housing assistance in the aftermath of a natural disaster, call the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans (available 24/7): 1-877-424-3838 They will work with the VA and other Federal, State and Local resources to find housing resources.
 

Medication Refill/Replacement
If Mountain Home Veterans need medication replacements or refills, they may call the Mountain Home VA
Pharmacy via the main facility line, 423-926-1171 –select option 1 or extension 7221.
Pharmacy staff will work with Veterans to replace needed medication and arrange for the best mode of delivery or pick-up based on the Veteran’s situation.
 

Glasses Replacement
If you have lost your glasses, please contact the resources below:

  • Mountain Home Eye Clinic - 423-926-1171 x2959
  • Mountain Home Optical Shop - 423-926-1171 x7328
  • Knoxville Optical Shop - 423-926-1171 x4105

We will need a historical glasses prescription or an old glasses order to be able to reorder. Optical staff will work with the Veteran to arrange the best mode of delivery.
 

Medical Device Replacement
If you have lost canes, wheelchairs, rollators or other mobility devices, please reach out to your Primary Care
Provider. Our Prosthetics Department is working closely with them to replace lost or damaged items.
 

Hearing Aids
If your hearing aids have been lost or damaged in the disaster, please call our Audiology Department:

Home Oxygen

If you need portable oxygen tanks, please follow this process:

  • Business Hours (0800-1600)            -   Call 423-926-1171 - Extensions x2441, x2684, x2529, or x2444.
  • Non-Business Hours (1600-0800)  -   Call TransOx at 888-400-0508 to arrange delivery or pick up.
