NF/SG VAMS Welcomes New Chief Medical Officer for Lake City Primary Care

Lake City , FL — We would like to announce our newest Chief Medical Officer for Lake City Primary Care Clinic in Lake City, Fl.
Dr. Radu Adrian Segal graduated from the University of Florida with an undergraduate degree in Chemistry (with Honors). He subsequently completed his didactic years in St. George, Grenada and his clinical years at Maimonides Medical Center and Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. He graduated with a dual degree in Medicine and a Master of Public Health.
Dr. Segal joined the University of Wyoming Family Medicine Residency Program at Cheyenne, Wyo. in 2004 and after graduating in 2007 obtained Board Certification and stayed on faculty briefly before moving to Marshall, Mo., where he chaired and help establish a new hospitalist program. He returned in 2008 to Cheyenne where he joined "the largest group on the frontier," Babson and Associates, PA practicing full scope family medicine including in-patient, outpatient and procedural medicine including surgery, obstetrics and gynecology. In 2009 Dr. Segal joined Wyoming Spine and Neurosurgery Associates, LLC working exclusively on neurosurgical illnesses and helping develop a spine program.
By the end of 2011, Dr. Segal opened a full scope private practice starting with some 50 patients that ultimately consisted of three providers including an ARNP specializing in Diabetes. Together they developed a comprehensive diabetic treatment program which included nutritional counseling and behavioral modification. In all, North Cheyenne Family Medicine, LLC ultimately grew to provide services to some 5,000 patients encompassing some 9% of Cheyenne's population at the time. At the end of 2016 NCFM was purchased by a large conglomerate and Dr. Segal and family moved back to his hometown of Gainesville, FL.
He has spent the last 7 years with Island Doctors, LLC a large MSO with some 60 clinics across all of Florida and some 30,000 lives covered. Along with providing direct patient care, Dr. Segal also helped open and establish several clinics including expanding the Gainesville campus from some 350 patients to over 1400. During this time, he has also served as Medical Director/CMO of Island Doctors affiliate operations and Director of the Referral Determination Program. In as much Dr. Segal has treated a variety of Managed Care patients including Veterans, which he finds particularly rewarding.
