North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System Appoints Chief of the Office of High Reliability

The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SGVHS) announces the appointment of Ms. Amy Cruz, MSN as the Chief of the Office of High Reliability (OHR), effective February 27, 2022.

Ms. Cruz has been the Acting Chief, OHR since July 2021. She will continue to develop Patient Safety, Quality Management, and Systems Redesign, which are within the newly formed OHR, to effectively support the journey to high reliability.

Prior, she served as the Patient Safety Program Coordinator for NF/SGVHS since 2018 and was the Patient Safety Manager since 2010. She also served as the Acting Assistant Chief for Quality Management from 2016-2017.

Ms. Cruz has over 15 years of progressive nursing leadership experience specializing in intensive care nursing and healthcare management.  She brings passion and dedication to implementing the principles of high reliability throughout NF/SGVHS.

Ms. Cruz received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Florida State University and her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Duke University.

She has served as a consultant locally and nationally on projects related to design, human factors, and standardization processes. She has served as a coach for incoming Patient Safety professionals nationwide.  Her publications have been in the areas of infection prevention, simulation, and early lactate monitoring in sepsis.
