VA Northern Indiana Health Care System (VANIHCS) is incredibly proud to have Naomi represent the VHA and VANIHCS.

Our very own, Naomi Nicastro was selected to represent Veteran Health Administration (VHA) at this year’s Veterans Day Ceremony at the Arlington Cemetery. Naomi was selected due to a stellar recommendation from her supervisors and her 30 years of outstanding service as a social worker and homeless coordinator.

“The ceremony at Arlington was phenomenal.  The Air Force Band and the Singing Sergeants where incredible”, said Naomi. Naomi was joined by 5 other nominated VA employees from VHA, Veteran Benefit Administration (VBA), and the National Cemetery Association (NCA).

“Our host was the highest-ranking employee at Central Office who was not a political appointee, Cassandra Law, Deputy Chief of Staff.  She was very gracious and kind to the six of us and very appreciative of everyone who works in the field.”

Naomi and the other nominees had the privilege of enjoying breakfast at the White House and having their pictures taken with the President and First Lady. They also got to meet the VA Under Secretaries, high ranking VA officials, and heads of various Veterans Organizations.

“I love history, so just being in the White House and seeing all the Presidents and First lady portraits was amazing.  I got to sit next to a 102-year-old, WWII Veteran female at breakfast. The whole experience was truly an amazing honor and very humbling.”

VA Northern Indiana Health Care System (VANIHCS) is incredibly proud to have Naomi represent the VHA and VANIHCS.

“We were very excited when Naomi was selected for this honor. It allowed all of VA to see what we have known for years what a phenomenal person she is and what a phenomenal job she does day in and day out for our Veterans.  She truly deserved this recognition, and we are proud to have her as part of our VA Northern Family”, said Anthony Colón, Interim Medical Center Director.
