PRESS RELEASE

July 22, 2024

Orlando , FL — The FBI-Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI-LEEDA) announced that the Orlando VA Healthcare System (OVAHCS) Police Department received the FBI-LEEDA Agency Trilogy Award.

The prestigious award recognizes the department's completion of an innovative training program that develops strong leadership skills in law enforcement agencies nationwide. The Orlando VA Healthcare System Police Department’s entire Command Staff completed a vigorous three-part leadership training, consisting of the Supervisor Leadership, Command Leadership, and Executive Leadership Institutes. The training covers topics such as diversity and inclusion, bias, public trust, transformational leadership, social and emotional intelligence, and more. The Agency Trilogy Award recognizes law enforcement agencies that demonstrate cutting-edge leadership skills, which will enhance their departments and daily service in their communities.

“Continuous leadership education for our Orlando VA Healthcare team is a critical part of our Servant Leadership philosophy,” said Chief Nicholas R. Amen, Orlando Veterans Affairs Healthcare System Police Department. “FBI-LEEDA’s Trilogy training has enhanced our team’s leadership abilities, positioning us to better serve our department and the VA community. We look forward to applying these skills in our daily operations as we continue to Serve those who Served”

Drawing on the expertise of seasoned law enforcement and public safety leaders from across the country, FBI-LEEDA courses provide tailored leadership development for professionals at various career stages. These courses empower participants to elevate their organizations and strengthen community partnerships.

"I am honored to present the Orlando VA Medical Center Police Department with the Agency Trilogy Award,” said Jacques S. Battiste, Executive Director of FBI-LEEDA. “The department has mastered leadership skills to strengthen their daily service, and I am pleased to recognize the Orlando VA community with this award.”

The Orlando VA is one of two VA facilities as the only federal law enforcement agencies in the nation to have received this award.

“I am incredibly proud of our Police Department’s achievement in earning the FBI-LEEDA Agency Trilogy Award,” said Timothy J. Cooke, Director and CEO of the Orlando VA Healthcare System. “Their dedication to continuous improvement and excellence in leadership directly impacts the quality of service we provide to our Veterans. This award underscores our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and service.”

Since the inception of the Agency Trilogy Award, 147 law enforcement organizations have been awarded for excellence in leadership and completion of FBI-LEEDA's flagship courses: the Command Leadership Institute, the Supervisor Leadership Institute and the Executive Leadership Institute.
