Ms. Denise Boehm is the acting director of VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, effective Nov. 15, 2021.

(VAPHS' Director, Donald Koenig, is on a temporary assignment in VHA Central Office.)

Ms. Boehm has served as the associate director for patient care services and nurse executive at the VA medical center in Washington, D.C., since September 2017, where she is actively involved in the District of Columbia Hospital Association and the revitalization of the local chapter of the American Organization of Nurse Leaders.

Since September 2020, Ms. Boehm has served as the VA Liaison to the Federal Government COVID Joint Health and Human Services and Department of Defense Operation Warp Speed’s (now known as CAG Countermeasures Acceleration Group) Vaccine Operations Center. 

She previously served as the associate director for patient care services and nurse executive at the VA medical center in Clarksburg, West Virginia, and in various roles at VA Pittsburgh including staff nurse, critical care nurse educator, nurse manager of the emergency department and associate chief nurse for primary care.

Ms. Boehm earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in nursing leadership and education from Carlow University. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Chatham University. She is certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Nurse Executive-Advanced.
