Henkie Tan MD, PhD, FACS, FAST, received his Medical Scientist Training Program (combined MD/PhD) and multiorgan transplant surgery fellowship at Johns Hopkins.
He has performed more than 2000 laparoscopic live donor nephrectomies, kidney, liver, pancreas transplants, and live liver donor hepatectomies. He is currently VAPHS Surgical Director of Kidney Transplantation, past UPMC surgical director of Living Donor Kidney and Pancreas Transplantation. He was past Chair of AST Organ Donation and Kidney Transplantation committees, current OPTN living donor committee, and past committee members of ASTS and other Societies. He was past Chair of VA Transplant Centers Transplant Surgery Advisory Board (currently a Board member), VISN 4 Lead Surgical ICC (Western market), has numerous publications (including Editor of the first Living Donor Transplantation Textbook, 2007), and voted Best Doctors for many years by Pittsburgh Magazine.
