James Warren, MBA, FACHE, is the associate director of the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center.

Prior to his current role, Warren served in several leadership positions within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, to include assistant director of the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks in Fayetteville, Arkansas; acting assistant/associate director and business office chief of both the Memphis, Tennessee, and Boston VA health care systems; medical administrative officer of Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia; and operations manager of radiology at Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago. 

Most recently he served as associate director of the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, and interim medical center director at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center.

A Veteran himself, Warren served in the U.S. Army as an armor crewman. In addition to the 4 years he served in the Army, Warren has more than 30 years of combined federal service. 

A native of Illinois, Warren received an associate degree in radiology from Malcom X College in Chicago, and a Bachelor of Arts, Business, and Technology degree from Governors State University in University Park, Illinois. He also earned a master’s degree in business administration, with a focus on health, from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, Illinois. Additionally, Warren is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
