VA Providence hosted a Post-Deployment Health Reassessment (PDHRA) for the Rhode Island National Guard’s Alpha Company, 1/182nd Infantry.

The Post-Deployment Health Reassessment is a health screen designed to protect and evaluate the health of those returning from deployment. These soldiers had just returned from a deployment to Kuwait.

The daylong event provided education, screening, assessment, and access to care for a wide variety of questions and concerns the Rhode Island National Guardsmen may have about their health. These soldiers went through various health assessments and check-ups.

VA medical professionals worked to ensure that every soldier received the care they needed.

“It’s important to not just see to the soldiers mental and physical health needs,” says to Rochelle Fortin, Program Manager for Post 9/11 Military to VA Program, “its also a way for the VA community to say, ‘welcome home’.”

VA Providence has more of these events planned in the near future to help ensure redeploying soldiers get started on the right foot.
