On December 8th, 2023, the VA Providence Medical Center hosted a coat drive to provide free coats, hats, gloves, and other winter essentials to local Veterans.

The event is a collaboration between the VA Providence Homeless-PACT clinic (HPACT) and Operation Stand Down Rhode Island (OSDRI).

Additional generous donations were received from New Englanders Helping our Veterans, Farm Fresh RI, and others.

This event was open to all Veterans who are enrolled in the VA Providence Healthcare System, as well as their family members. The event was well attended, with VA staff and volunteers helping the Veterans find the right fit and style.

The coat drive was a success, not only in providing warmth and comfort to the Veterans, but also in creating a sense of community and gratitude. Many Veterans expressed their appreciation for the coat drive, and shared their stories and experiences with the staff and volunteers. VA Providence thanks all of those involved in making this event a success.
