VA Providence cut the ribbon, Monday October 2nd on our Age-Friendly wing on the 6th floor known as Age FIT, for age friendly integrative teams.

Its’s an initiative to deliver safe, reliable, high-quality health care in every setting based on what matters most to older Veterans.

“As our Veteran population ages, its important to tailor healthcare that takes into account their unique need,” says Lawrence Connell, Director VA Providence Healthcare System.

Dr. Julio Defillo, Providence Chief of Geriatric and Extended Care, say the focus is on Veteran with a system known as the 4 Ms, “The 4 Ms are basically what Matters, where we align care with each older Veteran's specific health goals and care preferences including, Medication, or the use of use Age-Friendly medications that do not interfere with what matters to the older Veteran, mobility or mentation across settings of care., Mentation (Mind) where we try to identify, treat, and manage dementia, depression and delirium across settings of care. And lastly, Mobility, making sure older Veterans move safely every day to maintain function and do what matters”, he said.
