Joint National Disaster Medical System Exercise

Salt Lake City , UT — VA Salt Lake City Health Care System and the Utah Air National Guard will conduct a National Disaster Medical System (NDMS) simulated patient reception exercise on Thursday, June 20.
The exercise is designed as a learning scenario for facility staff and our community partners to exercise and validate the NDMS Operations Plan for the Salt Lake City Area. Salt Lake City is one of 62 Federal Coordination Centers (FCC) throughout the US. The exercise will focus on receiving patients from an aircraft, triaging patients, and notionally transporting them to local hospitals to receive inpatient care.
The scope of includes response organizations from the FCC Salt Lake City as well as:
• VA Salt Lake City Health Care System
• Utah Air National Guard
• U.S. Transportation Command
• State and local agencies
The exercise will take place at 9 a.m., June 20, on the Roland R. Wright Air National Guard Base, 765 N 2200 W, Salt Lake City. Media interested in covering the event are asked to arrive no later than 7:00 a.m.
