VA Salt Lake City to host Vet Fest for Veterans and their families

PRESS RELEASE

July 10, 2023

Salt Lake City , UT — On July 12, the VA Salt Lake City Health Care System and Regional Office will host a Summer Vet Fest to inform Veterans, their families, and survivors about the PACT Act and encourage them to apply for the health care and benefits they have earned.

At the event, VA staff will be ready to help Veterans apply for PACT Act-related benefits (or submit an intent to file), enroll in VA health care, get screened for toxic exposures, and more. Veterans can also learn about other programs and services from the VA, the Utah Department of Veteran and Military Affairs, Veteran Support Organizations, and community partners.

What: Vet Fest

Who: VA Salt Lake City Health Care System Enrollment, Toxic Exposure Screeners, Veterans Benefits Salt Lake Regional Office Public Contact Team and Utah Department of Veteran and Military Affairs Outreach Team (Service-Connected Disability Claims) and community partners, and Military Affairs, Veteran Support Organizations, and community partners.

When:  Wednesday, July 12, 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Where: Weber State University – Davis Campus, 2750 University Park Blvd., Davis Stewart Center, Layton, Utah

The PACT Act is the largest expansion of Veteran health care and benefits in decades. The open house is part of VA’s broader efforts to ensure that every eligible Veteran and survivor gets their PACT Act-related health care and benefits.

Thousands of Veterans have already applied for PACT Act-related benefits and enrolled in VA health care since the PACT Act was signed into law on August 10, 2022. VA encourages all eligible Veterans and survivors to file a claim — or submit their intent to file a claim — for PACT Act-related benefits now. Most Veterans who do so by August 9 will have their benefits, if granted, backdated to Aug. 10, 2022, the day that President Biden signed the bill into law.
