The Sheridan Operation Green Light committee invites our community members, organizations and government offices to JOIN US in “Going Green” by using green lights on building fronts and homes from November 4-11.

The goal is to raise awareness of Veteran suicide and show all Veterans that our community supports them. Operation Green Light committee invites the community to take part in one or all of three ways:

Businesses and Organizations

  1. Veterans Day (November 11).  This year we’re asking for the community to help us compile a list of Veterans Day event and discounts that we can provide to area Veterans. If your school or organization is holding a special event for Veterans Day or if your business offers Veterans Day discounts, please email the information to Angel Oliver with Mission 22 at adornbsn@gmail.com or Scott Brooke from the VA at Scott.Brooke2@va.gov
  2. The Operation Green Light Committee is asking organizations with resources for Veterans to set up a table at the kick- off event Saturday, Nov. 2, at Whitney Commons at 6 p.m. Set up will be at 5 p.m. This community event will be an opportunity to share information with Veterans, their families, and the community at large.

Want to take part? Please contact Cherish Thomson at SHEPublicAffairs@va.gov.

For Our Community

  1. Operation Green Light (November 4 - 11, 2024).  This year, we join with Sheridan County and city businesses to invite the community to "Go Green" for Veterans in Sheridan. We're proud to join our neighbors in Buffalo and Gillette who have been taking part in this effort annually. Please light your business or home with a green bulb.

Green bulbs will be available for purchase in late October at Ace Hardware of Sheridan, Bloedorn Lumber of Sheridan, Home Depot, Knecht’s Ace Hardware, Sheridan Commercial True Value Hardware and any other merchants who sell green bulbs.

This national endeavor, created by the National Association of Counties to raise awareness of Veteran suicide by encouraging the display of green lights around communities continues to grow and spread each year.
