Rachel is the Employee of the Month for November.
By Ryan Coverdell, Public Affairs Officer

Rachel is the backbone of the Radiology Service at VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS). She is always seeking solutions to ensure we care for our Veterans, their families and their caregivers.

What makes Rachel an asset to our team is that she not only does her job, but she also goes above and beyond to help her entire team. Her resourcefulness and will to complete the mission make our service better as a whole. Even when Rachel is simply fulfilling her duties, she makes sure her teammates feel like a priority and is always dependable. It would be hard to mold a more perfect team member, someone who goes above and beyond and is always dependable.

Recently Rachel was using a desk in the Medical Support Assistant (MSA) room and took a call from a colleague. Rachel’s colleague needed help and though it was not within her official duties she immediately went to action. A Veteran had checked in and asked the MSA if they could watch his wife who was diagnosed with dementia.

Rachel worked with her supervisor and team to come up with a plan and the wife was cared for while the Veteran finished his procedure. This is a clear example of Rachel going above and beyond and being resourceful to find solutions to difficult situations. Thanks to her actions not only was the wife cared for and fed, but the husband’s mind also was at ease for his procedure.

For of her actions, her commitment to the VA’s I-CARE Values and her determination to fulfil our mission, Rachel is VASNHCS’s Employee of the Month.
