Jason W. Dangel serves as the Deputy Manager, Office of Communication & Stakeholder Relations, VISN 8

Mr. Dangel currently serves as Deputy Communication Manager, Office of Communication and Stakeholder Relations, VA Sunshine Healthcare Network (VISN 8).  He was appointed to the position in October 2018. He works jointly with the network communication manager to provide public affairs program oversight and consultation services for all Veterans Health Administration (VHA) facilities located in Florida, South Georgia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The network is comprised of eight Joint Commission accredited VA medical centers, and 60 outpatient clinics. More than 33,000 full-time employees work at these facilities, providing a full range of high quality, cost-effective medical, psychiatric, and extended care services to over 670,000 Veterans.

Previously, Mr. Dangel served as the public affairs officer for the Bay Pines VA Healthcare System located in Bay Pines, Fla. since April 2012.  In this position, he was responsible for a wide range of internal and external communication and public relations activities for the organization which is comprised of the C.W. Bill Young VA Medical Center in Bay Pines and VA community clinics located in Bradenton, Cape Coral, Naples, Palm Harbor, Port Charlotte, Sarasota, St. Petersburg, and Sebring.  Bay Pines is one of the largest VA healthcare systems in the country.

Mr. Dangel spent the first three years of his career with the VISN 8 Office of Communication and Stakeholder Relations as a public affairs specialist after serving nearly six years in the U.S. Army as a public affairs noncommissioned officer with the 4th Infantry Division. During his time in the military, he was twice deployed to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom to carry out full spectrum public affairs operations during the campaign.

Throughout his government career, Mr. Dangel has been responsible for a wide range of communication and public affairs related duties to include developing and managing internal and external communication plans; content and technical web development; social media management; photography; graphic design and desktop publishing; media, community, and congressional relations; event planning and coordination; and emergency management. Mr. Dangel is also a certified Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma, and VHA certified mentor. Mr. Dangel is a graduate of the Department of Defense Information School located in Fort Meade, Maryland, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in health administration, and a graduate certificate in Strategic Communication with Purdue University’s Brian Lamb School of Communication.
