Michael Renfrow serves as the Deputy Executive Director at VA Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS).

In September 2021, Michael B. Renfrow was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in the position of Deputy Executive Director, Tennessee Valley Healthcare System, in Nashville, TN. 

In this role, Mr. Renfrow is responsible for leading the operations and strategy for a large, complex 1A healthcare system with two Medical Centers and 20 outpatient clinics, serving 140,000 Veterans in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Georgia. Tennessee Valley Healthcare System employs over 5,200 employees with an annual budget of over $2 billion.  

Mr. Renfrow has extensive experience in organizational development, change management, customer and employee experience, and strategic planning and has served in various roles at VA since 2006, to include serving in the following roles: Deputy Director, VA Patient Experience Program; Acting Deputy Vice Chairman, VA Board of Veterans’ Appeals; Chief Consultant, VA Patient Experience; Senior Advisor for Safety, Security, and Preparedness Modernization to the VA Assistant Secretary for Operations, Security, and Preparedness; and Deputy Director for Plans, VA Office of Emergency Management. 

Mr. Renfrow is an Air Force Veteran, serving on Active Duty from 2002-2006 and in the Maryland Air National Guard from 2006-2011. 

In his free time, Mr. Renfrow enjoys spending time with his dog, Blanche, traveling, backpacking and mountaineering, and Grizzlies basketball.
