National Volunteer Week: Dr. Charles "Chuck" Emerson
April 17 - 23 is National Volunteer Week. We are happy to have Charles “Chuck” Emerson, M.D as a Volunteer Ambassador.
He is an Orthopaedic Surgeon in Nashville, Tennessee. He received his medical degree from University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine in 1959.
Dr. Emerson was drafted, as a physician, under an act known as the Doctor Draft, in April 1962. He was commissioned in the medical corps of the US Air Force and practiced medicine at an Air Force base in Turkey until May of 1964. After military service, he completed a Residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, then, he completed a residency in hand surgery at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai/Roosevelt Hospital Center. He was faculty at Vanderbilt University Medical Center from 1968 to 1976, then, he relocated to Jackson, Mississippi to private practice. Dr. Emerson returned to Nashville in 1998 and remained active in Orthopaedic Surgery with Tennessee Valley Healthcare System-Nashville through 2019.
Several days a week, you will find “Dr. Chuck” on the move with our veterans that need a wheelchair assist as one of our “Volunteer Ambassadors” throughout the hallways at TVHS Nashville.
