Ms. Ellesha McCray was appointed Chief Nurse Executive at the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center in December 2022.
Ms. Ellesha McCray was appointed Chief Nurse Executive at the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center in December 2022.
Prior to her appointment, Ms. McCray served as the Acting Deputy Nurse Executive from May to December of 2022. Before joining the Executive Leadership Team at the Washington DC VA Medical Center, Ms. McCray served as the Associate Chief Nurse for Acute Care at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center from 2012 to 2022.
Ms. McCray began her VA career in July of 1995 at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center as a staff nurse. She progressed through several positions to include caring for patients as a nurse manager for the Inpatient Medicine/Liver Transplant Unit as well as the Associate Chief Nurse for the Community Living Center and Behavioral Health.
Ms. McCray earned a Master of Science in Nursing and Master of Business Administration from Waynesburg University. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Carlow University.
Ms. McCray is passionate about her role in nursing leadership. Throughout her VA career, she has been instrumental in optimizing health care outcomes for Veteran patients while enhancing programs and developing opportunities for nursing professionals. She is committed to providing Veterans safe, quality care.
