Ms. Lyumma Archeval, MSN, RN, was appointed as the Associate Director for Patient Care Service in December 2016.

In this role Ms. Archeval is responsible for oversight of the following services, Social Work, Chaplains, Whole Health, Employee Education, Sterile Processing Services and all nursing functions to include sterile processing, clinical operations, acute care , inpatient mental health, geriatrics and extended care and blind rehab, perioperative care and Medicine, specialty care and  ambulatory care. She comes to the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center from the Huntington VA Medical Center where she served the Associate Director for Patient Care Services since 2012.

Ms. Archeval began her VA career at the Huntington VA Medical Center in West Virginia in 2000 as a Pain Management Case Manager. In May 2003 she was selected as the Intensive Care Unit Manager and in the same year was selected as a Patient Care Coordinator (Deputy role). She served in this capacity until she transferred to the San Juan VA Medical Center in 2005, where she was the National Surgical Quality Improvement Program Coordinator and later selected as the facility’s Colorectal Cancer Screening Program Coordinator. Returning to Huntington in 2008, she served as the Special Projects Coordinator, with oversight of the Controlled Substance program, Safe Patient Handling Program, Bed Management, and management of facility unit clerks. In 2010, she was selected as a Chief Nurse for Perioperative Services until August 2012 when she appointed as an Associate Director for Patients Care Services.

Ms. Archeval earned a Master’s of Science degree in Nursing (CNS) from Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico. During her career, she served as a Professor of Clinical Nursing at Ponce Technical Institute in Puerto Rico and an Associate Professor of Marshall University in Huntington, WV. She serves as a Fellow in the VA mentoring program and has coached and mentored several master degree candidates at various colleges, including the University of Florida, University of Phoenix, Walden University and Marshall University. She is a graduate of the VISN 9 Leadership Institute and the VA Nursing Leadership Academy and was a previous coach for the VISN 9 Leadership Institute in 2012.
