Buffalo, NY - Ms. Danielle Bergman Brings Proven Leadership, Depth of Experience to Western New York’s Veterans

BUFFALO, NY — The Department of Veterans Affairs announced today the appointment of Danielle Bergman as the new VA Western NY Healthcare System Executive Director. 

“We are excited to have Danielle Bergman on board as the new Executive Director of VA Western NY, said Bruce Tucker, Network Director of the VA New York and New Jersey Healthcare Network. “Over Danielle’s time with VA, she has demonstrated the department’s commitment to the delivery of safe high quality health care, and she will continue to be a valuable asset to the network, the employees and volunteers, and most importantly, for the Veterans we are honored to serve.”

Ms. Bergman recently returned from serving as Interim Executive Director for the VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System, where she provided leadership and oversight for more than six months in support of Veterans across the Finger Lakes region. Since returning, she has assumed the role of Interim Executive Director for the VA Western New York Healthcare System.

Ms. Bergman’s previous roles include serving as Assistant Director and Human Resources Manager for the VA Western New York Healthcare System (VAWNYHS). She began her VA career in 2007 at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center as a Human Resources Technical Career Field Intern and has since advanced through a series of increasingly responsible positions within Human Resources. Her experience includes serving as a Supervisory Human Resources Specialist with VA Health Care Upstate New York – Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN 2) in Albany, NY.

Ms. Bergman earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a certification in Service Leadership from St. John Fisher College in 2005, graduating summa cum laude. She continued her education at St. John Fisher College, earning a Master’s degree in Human Resource Development in 2007, also summa cum laude. She is a 2016 graduate of the VA Health Care Leadership Development Program, a 2019 graduate of the Federal Executive Institute, and a 2024 graduate of the Partnership in Public Service Excellence in Government Fellowship.

In her new role, Ms. Bergman will be responsible for the delivery of health care services at 11 locations in Western New York, including two medical centers in Buffalo and Batavia, as well as nine community-based outpatient clinics in Buffalo, Dunkirk, Jamestown, Lockport, Niagara Falls, Olean, Springville, and West Seneca.
