VA Western New York Healthcare System hosted its annual Tree Lighting Memorial Ceremony Thursday, December 7 in remembrance of Veterans and VA Staff that have passed away.

The ceremony was held at the Buffalo VA Medical Center’s Veterans Park.

The Hutch-Tech JROTC for Color Guard paraded the colors and Chaplain Sergio I. Daza lead attendees in prayer.

Healthcare System Director Mr. Michael J. Swartz delivered welcome remarks.  "To the friends and family members of our honored Veterans who have passed -- whether your loss was recent or years ago, I hope you find comfort and peace as we honor their service and sacrifice to our great country as you memorialize the loss within your family here on our remembrance tree," said  Swartz.

Loved ones of deceased Veterans and staff placed ornaments on the remembrance tree.

The tree will remain on display until the end of the year.
