Care we provide at Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center
The Behavioral Health Department offers both inpatient and outpatient services, including telehealth appointments. We provide consultation, evaluation, and treatment for a variety of issues impacting emotional well-being. Our services include:
Behavioral Health Admission and Assessment Team (BHAT)
BHAT provides consultation, assessment, and treatment to Veterans who report to the Emergency Department (ED), require admission onto a medical surge unit, or are currently inpatient and require a psychiatric assessment/evaluation.
Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP)
BHIP comprises Psychotherapy (Individual/Group), Psychiatry (Medication Management), and Substance-Use Specific Therapy for Dual Diagnoses.
Compensated Work Therapy (CWT)
CWT offers vocational rehabilitation services to Veterans who will be employed for a limited basis in a service area within Dole VA. The Supported Employment (SE) program offers vocational rehabilitation services to Veterans with serious mental illness.
Domiciliary Substance-Use Disorder (DOM-SUD)
The DOM-SUD program, along with the Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (RRTP), is a voluntary substance-ruse disorder residential and rehabilitation treatment program for Veterans who report a substance-use issue. This is a 42-day residential program with a 9-bed operational unit.
Health Behavior Coordinator
This provider offers Alpha Stim (individual/group), Biofeedback, and other health-related services within and outside of Behavioral Health (MOVE, Tobacco Cessation, etc.).
Homeless Veteran Care
If you are a Veteran who is homeless or at risk of becoming homeless due to financial hardship, unemployment, addiction, depression, or transition from jail, Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center health care can help you. Contact a homeless services care coordinator to get help.
Intensive Community Mental Health Recovery Services (ICMHRS)
ICMHRS, along with Rural Access Network for Growth Enhancement (RANGE), is a community reintegration program for Veterans with a serious mental illness who receives intensive case management.
Local Recovery Coordinator
Active outreach for Veterans who have a serious mental illness. We work hard to re-engage Veterans into Behavioral Health care.
Neuropsychological and Psychological Testing (NPT)
NPT conducts testing to rule-out Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Cognitive Impairments, Dementia, Personality Disorder, Bariatric Surgical Procedures, Organ Transplant, Endocrinology for Hormone Replacement Therapy for Veterans, etc.
Peer Support Services (PSS)
PSS helps Veterans who use Robert J. Dole VA Medical Care services. Any Veteran can have mental health challenges. This may be trouble with addiction or other health issues. These can all affect your daily life and well-being. Peer-led individual meetings and groups are offered by Peer Support Specialists.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Clinical Team (PCT)
The PCT provides evidenced-based psychotherapy (individual and group) for Veterans with a primary or secondary diagnosis of PTSD or if they report trauma issues for which they would like to receive specialized services. This team also offers medication management.
Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCHMI)
The PCHMI program offers up to six sessions of individual services to address behavioral interventions from psychologists and social workers in Wichita and our catchment area. Soon, a mid-level Behavioral Health medical provider will be added to offer consultation, assessment, and brief interventions to stabilize Veterans. Once Veterans have been assessed, they can return to Primary Care for medical care or be referred to Behavioral Health for more intensive medication management services in an outpatient setting.
Substance Use Disorder Clinic (SUD-C)
SUD-C offers group therapy and medication management services to Veterans with a substance-use disorder.
Suicide Prevention (SP)
Suicide Prevention 2.0 offers virtual, evidenced-based psychotherapy services for Veterans who have a High Risk Suicide Flag.
Trauma Informed Services
Dole VA's Interpersonal Violence Coordinator and Military Sexual Trauma Coordinator offer individual and group therapy services.

Mental health services are confidential. We will not talk to anyone about information you share unless you give written consent. Under federal law, a few exceptions to this rule exist. If you have questions, please ask your mental health provider.
