Breastfeeding Information
Breastfeeding has powerful health benefits for you and your baby, from fighting infection to lowering the risk of postpartum depression and certain diseases. But breastfeeding is not the only way to feed your baby. VA supports Veterans by offering comprehensive breastfeeding and lactation services, including classes, counseling, supplies, peer support groups, and community resources. If you are not breastfeeding, VA can connect you to resources like the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC).
Regardless of whether you breastfeed or not, VA is here to provide personalized care and connect you with the support that's right for you.
For information on lactation and breastfeeding, read through VA's Guide to Lactation Basics.
