Dr. Angela Rowe serves as the Chief of Staff of the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
She has served in this capacity since 2022. She also continues to provide care as the staff Orthopedic surgeon. The JEVZ VA Medical Center delivers health care to over 30,000 Veterans in Central PA and employs over 1,300 staff.
In 1999, Dr. Rowe began her career as the first board certified female orthopedic surgeon in Blair County. She had a successful private practice in Altoona, PA that spanned more than 20 years prior to coming to the VA. Highlights of her distinguished career included: Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at UPMC Altoona Region Hospital, Chief of Staff at Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, President of the Pennsylvania Orthopedic Society, Chairman of the Board at Advanced Center of Surgery, and Board of Directors of the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics. She believes her current position caring for our nation’s heroes has been her greatest mission.
Dr. Rowe emigrated to the U.S. from Hong Kong, China in 1971. While she is an alum of the University of Pittsburgh, she is happy her only son is attending the Penn State University. Her hobbies include sporting clays, fly fishing, gourmet cooking, and fine wine.
