James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center celebrates Veteran Patients Week
(Feb. 14, 2024) By Aaron Marrie ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — The James E. Van Zandt Medical Center is spending the second week of February recognizing veterans in honor of Veteran Patients Week.
On Wednesday, veterans who get care at the Altoona Community Living Center were presented with a special lunch in their honor. They also received a certificate and a pin that corresponded to their armed forces branch.
“I think that for those who serve their country to come back for us to have the opportunity to serve them is a true honor,” Dr. Derek Coughenour, Director of the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, said.
Veterans also received over 300 valentines from local school students. The VA said vets will continue to celebrate the rest of the week.
